Could 2004 be our last election?

Our animated little thinker  If you're not worried about the future of our nation yet, you're either delusional or have your head in the sand. Our government has pissed off most of the world, and we've seen how ineffective our massive military is against those who are fighting for their lives and freedoms.

Our economy cannot take much more taxation and regulation before it starts crumbling around our heels. A small tax cut was about the only positive action out of Washington in the past 4 years. Recently, Hillary Clinton told hundreds of party faithful to expect to lose some of the tax cuts passed under President Bush if Democrats take control in Washington next year. That's really something to look forward to, isn't it?

Our own liberties are being deleted in the name of fighting against enemies our government created with insane intervention in other nations.

Have you noticed that America doesn't have any friends left? The closest is Great Britain, and if you think the British people are on our side, you're mistaken. There are nations who are bribed or bullied into helping us, and nations who are enemies. We are the planet's big bully now. Thanks to our middle-east escapades, we're the UGLY big bully.

What would a Libertarian President do differently? Here are some issue comments from Michael Badnarik, with links for those who wish to read more.

Military Policy and the War in Iraq

A Libertarian president would not have sent the military trampling about the world, racking up a death count in the thousands, wasting tax money on destroying and re-building infrastructure, creating more enemies, and doing the kinds of things that led to 9/11 in the first place.

In short, a libertarian foreign policy is one of national defense, and not international offense. It would protect our country, not police the world. (more)

How to Make Health Care Affordable

Health care and insurance costs will plummet if excess regulation is eliminated and malpractice awards are made only on the basis of strict liability. Lower costs, along with the savings from downsizing regulatory bureaucracy, will fund tax credits for those who establish Health Savings Accounts for themselves, their families, Medicare/Medicaid recipients, and the needy. How to Empower Minorities Without Reverse Discrimination!

Most minorities feel that something about our "system" still discriminates against them, but can't quite identify its cause. Establishment politicians propose more quotas and affirmative action, creating animosity between those who are favored by such legislation and those who are not. Since these programs must be funded by taking money from the private sector, jobs, primarily those held by unskilled minorities, are destroyed. The few who benefit from quotas and affirmative action do so at the expense of their less advantaged brethren. (more)

Should Gay Couples Be Allowed to Marry?

Marriage partners, not government, should define the terms and spiritual orientation of their union in accordance with our nation's guarantee of religious freedom.

Freedom is the one thing we cannot have unless we give it to others. The blessings our nation enjoys today is built upon that expression of free will. If you elect me as your president, marriage will no longer be a political football, but a matter for hearts and souls. (more)

How to Keep the Economy Up and Unemployment Down!

The answer is too much regulation and too much government spending. In the 1980s, the number of federal regulators fell from about 122,000 to barely 100,000. The private sector added 3,500,000 jobs as a consequence. The loss of each federal regulator resulted in the creation of more than 150 new jobs, enough to hire the ex-regulator, most of the unemployed, and some of the able-bodied poor. The nation prospered!

From 1987 to 1992, the number of regulators swelled once more to pre-1980 levels. The 3.5 million newly-created jobs were destroyed as a result. The number of regulators has continued to increase, costing additional jobs as well. Was your job among them? Will you be unemployed when the next wave of government regulation hits? (more)

Gun Control Means Being Able to Hit your Target

Washington DC, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles have the strictest gun control policies in the United States. The cities with the highest murder rates are Washington DC, New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles. It doesn't take a PhD to be able to draw the proper conclusion from this evidence. England and Australia have recently instituted strict gun control measures, and both countries have seen the statistics on violent crime quadruple. (more)

Medical Marijuana and the Federal War on Drugs

A Libertarian president would order federal officials to cease and desist in harassing medical marijuana patients and would block federal spending on the War on Drugs. Nonviolent drug offenders would be released from federal prison, and each state would choose its own drug policy, just as each chose its own alcohol policy when alcohol Prohibition was repealed. Libertarians would hope and expect most states to come around and severely reform their policies to make them more humane and less at odds with the Constitution and the American way of life. (more)

How to Slash Pharmaceutical Prices Virtually Overnight

Excess regulation has increased new drug development time by a decade since the 1960s and multiplied development costs 5-fold. Consequently, our seriously ill die waiting for life-saving medicines and pay exorbitant prices when they finally can purchase them. Since these excess regulations kill many more people than they save, they can be safely eliminated, slashing pharmaceutical prices virtually overnight! (more)

I don't expect you to agree with every Libertarian position. Libertarians are plain-talkers, and they mean what they say. You won't hear Libertarians varying their message to different audiences, unlike our major-party politicians. What you need to decide is who you can believe, and who can you trust? If you long for a leader who is trustworthy and will not be bought by powerful special interests, Michael Badnarik is the man for you.

This could well be our last chance to vote.

One more major "terrorist" attack and our inept power-hungry politicians may well impose some form of martial law to "protect" us, thus eliminating the remainder of what we wishfully call our freedoms. The never-ending War on Terrorism can have no other ending, because it will CREATE enemies faster than we can kill them.

In November, we will each have what could well be OUR LAST CHANCE to help turn our nation around and head it back toward peace, freedom, and prosperity. Libertarians are working hard... not to become another "big junkyard dog", but to reverse the growth of government. If you vote for anyone else but Libertarian Michael Badnarik in November, you'll be voting for more of the same. Are you going to vote against yourself again, or are you ready to send a loud, clear message to Washington?
